The Map
The playing board of Castillion comprises a Map of the Empire and its nieghbouring Kingdoms, along with detailed plans of Castles and important geographical locations. The 'Castles' and 'Locations' are marked on the main Map for ease of navigation, allowing the action to move seamlessly back and forward between the Map and the detailed plans as required.

| 2 Players | Player 1 | Player 2 | ||||
| 3 Players | Player 1 | Player 2 | Player 3 | |||

| 5 Players | Player 1 | Player 2 | Player 3 | Player 4 | Player 5 | |
| 6 Players | Player 1 | Player 2 | Player 3 | Player 4 | Player 5 | Player 6 |
Place the main map on a suitable surface and ensure there is room for the detailed plans to be placed along side the main map as required through the game.
The game turn marker should be placed on January.
3. Winning The GameThe Game represents a year in the defense of Castillion from Vissarion's invading Horde and is made up of 12 turns representing the months of the year. The Horde must control Castillion by the end of the December turn to win otherwise winter will cut their supply lines through the Isis mountains and the invasion will fail. Individual Kings also measure success on protecting their own Capitals, although if this is at the expense of losing Castillion, this will be a hollow victory indeed.
| Emperor Victory | Draw | The Horde Victory | |
| Major Victory | Minor Victory | Draw | Victory |
| Castillion & 2 or more Castles held | Castillion & 1 Castle held | Castillion held | Take Castillion |
